Work Exhibited

Recently I had my work exhibited at the Sooke Fine Art show for 2011.  This show was juried and I feel very grateful to have my work exhibited at this prestigues event.  Thank you.  The piece was entitled "flying Goddess" and was approximately 5 feet tall by 2 feet.  The face was sculpted in paperclay and a combination of oil paints, oil paint sticks and water colors.  I came up with a pattern and made my own fabric using a variety of techniques.  Some techniques were free motion sewing with angelina fibers, applique, dyes, stamping, puff paints.

The subject matter was to  talk about the photosynthesis process, how life starts with a seed, blooms into flowers, leaves, vines and back to seeds to fly free in the air.  She has maple tree seeds sewn together to appear like a headdress fit for a goddess with a serene face.  She came out like I envisioned, dreamnt.
